Siri Broch Johansen comes from and lives on the Norwegian side of Deanu river valley. She has written children/youth novels, non-fiction books, stage plays for children, youth and grownups. She often performs her own works.
Johansen is a bilingual writing artist who grew up on the norwegian side of the Deanu river valley. She has written two children/youth novels that earned her the Saami council literature price twice. She has also written several non-fiction books, and in 2020 she released "Letters to the commision" in both norwegian and sami. Her works are often politically edged.
Johansen holds a MA in theatre from Oslo national academy of the arts, 2017. For two years afterwards, she toured with the MA work, "Sabmie Ovttastuvvon Siiddat" and held readings with audience participation.
Johansen works alternately with stage art and literature, and she often makes songs for her stage texts. Sometimes she performs her own works, for instance on tour with DKS.
She has rendered a number of Leonard Cohen songs to northern sami language, and has given some conserts with these songs.
Johansen has extensive experience with translating artistic texts in many genres.
