The 2019 album "Gákti", released by him and his band VASSVIK on the Norwegian Indie- Label Grappa/Heilo, was received and reviewed and hit the charts (number 12 Transglobal World Music Charts 07/19, number 5 World Music Charts Europe 09/19).
Torgeir's yoiking reveals the deepest vibrations and most beautiful overtones of human soul, resonating with experimental, playful and groovy expressions on his guitar and frame drum, combined with electronics, birbyne, jews-harp, igil, and violins. The culture of the Sami indigenous people is anchored in Torgeir Vassvik's genes. But in his projects the archaic forms only a starting point for border-crossings, experiments and modern improvisation.
